GAURI HEART CENTRE

A clinic made after studying non communicable disease patterns of 7 districts of Jammu and Kashmir provides specialised care to patients with high Blood Pressure, diabetes and heart disease associated with these entities, the goal being “No More Heart Attacks”.

GHC is located in Lal Nagar, Channapora and can be reached anywhere from the valley in 2 to 3 hours. The centre runs 6 days a week and at any given time 2 cardiologists are available throughout the day. A geriatric medicine consultant is also available. Our centre has facilities of ECG, stress tests, long term ECG and ambulatory B P monitoring along with echocardiography of heart and Doppler studies for all the vessels of body. A specialised Head up tilt table for diagnosing case of syncope is also available. All the relevant blood biochemistry can be done. These also include point of care tests for promptly diagnosing a heart attack, heart failure and clots in the lungs.

A tie up with other well equipped hospitals for indoor treatment also has been made. Any new patient coming is fully evaluated the same day along with necessary tests and by the end of the day evidence based treatment is started. All stable patients are given appropriate appointments to reduce the waiting to minimum. This paid service has cost eﬀective charges.

Dr Abid Hussain:
MBBS, MD GMC Srinagar, worked as HOD medicine in Hotat Sudair hospital Riyadh KSA. Undertaken 3 years DND Cardiology training from Fortis Escorts Heart Institute New Delhi and worked as Consultant Cardiologist at Fortis hospital Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

Dr Muneer Tantry:
did MBBS from SKIMS -MC Srinagar, Has done Diploma Cardiology from Fortis Escorts; Worked as Associate Consultant cardiology at Fortis Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, associate consultant and in-charge Non Invasive Cardiac Lab at Paras Hospital Gurgaon.

Muzaffar Ahmad:
Manages the overall functioning of the Heart Centre. With an experience of over more than 10 years, he supervises the working process and handles the team at the Heart Centre.

Sayima Majeed:
A registered FMPHW with an experience of more than 2.5 years, she handles the diagnostic procedures in GHC.

Sahrish Ali Mir:
A nursing graduate with an experience of more than 3 years, she has worked in a number of healthcare facilities including SMHS & G B Panth hospital.

Bisma:
A former intern in one of the reputed hospitals of the valley, Bisma handles the biomarker assay process in GHC. She is also responsible for handling the tie-up with GK Labs.

SPECIALIZED FACILITIES AVAILABLE

• BIOMARKERS: Cardiac biomarkers show up in your blood after your heart has been under severe stress and becomes injured because it isn't getting enough oxygen. This might be because you've had a heart attack. But these levels can be high for other reasons. The levels of biomarkers are often used to quickly find out the size of a heart attack and how seriously your heart was affected.

• Head up Tilt Test Tilt table testing is used to determine a cause of fainting or loss of consciousness. This condition is called syncope. The Tilt Table Test checks how changes in body position can affect your blood pressure and heart rate. The goal is to try to recreate fainting symptoms. The table tilts you upright for a period of time and shows whether prolonged standing caused your symptoms.

• TREADMILL TEST:
An exercise stress test is primarily used to help your doctor determine if your heart receives enough oxygen and proper blood flow when it needs it most, such as when you are exercising. It can be ordered for people who have been experiencing chest pains or other symptoms of coronary artery disease. An exercise stress test may also be used to help determine your level of health, especially if you are starting a new exercise program. This allows your doctor to learn what level of exercise you can safely handle.

• Echocardiogram (ECHO): It is a graphic outline of the heart's movement. During an echo test, ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) from a hand-held wand placed on your chest provides pictures of the heart's valves and chambers and helps the sonographer evaluate the pumping action of the heart. Echo is often combined with Doppler ultrasound and color Doppler to evaluate blood flow across the heart's valves.

PRASAD JOO HEART CENTRE

We are engaged at present in developing a day care heart centre with facility of an OPD pertaining to all the major basic specialities in village Hawal, Pulwama. Several investigations like ECG, echocardiography, abdominal ultrasound and blood biochemistry will be available. A pharmacy with cost effective medicines will also be maintained. Selected doctors from the district will be available there supported by periodic visits by us. This center “Prasad Joo Khan Memorial Medical Centre” is named after a legendary personality of this village who lived there between 1908 -1965. The center should become functional before the onset of winter in the valley this year.
