Gauri Kaul Foundation started its 1st medical camp on 29th September 2020 in Kupwara with a beneficiary pool of 100 patients, all of them were screened and selected by the health officials from the various Blocks of the District. Our group consisting of 3 doctors and 3 Research Coordinators along with paramedics of the hospitals, evaluated 105 pre-selected patients (61% males with 20% more than 65 years of age). Forty seven percent patients had HT and 13% had DM. The general impression was that half of the patients with HT had BP levels more than the target of 140/90 mms Hg including some with alarmingly high levels of more than 200 mms Hg.The medical camp was followed by a Healthy Heart Talk by Prof. Upendra Kaul for the doctors and paramedics of the district.

Towards the same aim our second district visit was on 31st of October 2020 at Krimshore, Khan sahib, District Budgam. The camp was organized through the chief medical officer (CMO) and the District Development commissioner (DDC) at Kremshora Sub District hospital adjacent to Khan Sahib. We saw a total of 117 individuals, with 69% between ages of 40 to 65 years. Nearly 95% were Kashmiri speaking with 70% males. Half of them by definition were overweight and 20% obese despite majority of them being physically very active and spending at least 45 to 60 minutes on walks and even climbing up hill. All the patients underwent a complete evaluation as per a pre formed questionnaire. Measurement of body mass index, Blood pressure using a calibrated instrument, random blood sugar and serum lipid estimation by point of care instruments. Additionally, an ECG was taken for all.

The next "Healthy Heart Project" was at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Rajpora, Pulwama on 27th November 2020. The goal being to optimize the treatment of patients suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure with or without heart disease. We saw a total of 127 individuals, with 61% between ages of 40 to 65 years. All the selected patients from different blocks of the district had a body mass index (BMI) measurement, BP recording by a calibrated instrument, blood sugar, serum lipid profile and an ECG done. Like in our previous camps, we evaluated the degree of control and the prescription patterns.

After successfully completing Healthy heart project in 3 districts of the valley, our team planned to move across the Pir Panjal ranges to district Ramban, which was our next destination. Our Banihal Tehsil Activity of the GHHP was done on 19th December 2020 in the Sub-district Hospital's new, but yet to be commissioned Trauma Centre. We saw 110 patients but only 82 met the inclusion criteria of our project (Established hypertension, diabetes with or without related heart problems). Our aim is to ensure treatment to targets of patients with pre-existent hypertension, diabetes and related heart diseases.

The team of GHHP went to in Jagti Township, near Nagrota in Jammu on 29th and 30th January 2021 after informing the residents with high BP or diabetes mellitus with or without pre-existent diabetes to register with our representatives for the Healthy Heart Camp.The venue was Govt Middle School and it was done in collaboration with Aman Movement and Helpline Humanity, NGO based in Jagti. We examined 210 subjects but got complete data of 143 individuals which has been analysed. Eighty percent patients were in the age groups of 40 to 79 years with 51% females. . Consequently 73% were overweight and one third being obese based upon the body mass index (BMI). More than half of the population seen by us had history of high BP and were on drug treatment. More than one third patients (48/143), who presented to us had known diabetes. There were 15% patients with both uncontrolled BP and sugar levels >180 mgs/dl, a very high-risk population.

GHHP reached for a one-day camp in the district headquarters of Kakching, the cleanest districts of the state from the capital city Imphal on 16th March 2021. We ended up seeing 110 subjects. All the 106 subjects who came for the camp, were subjected to calculation of body mass index (BMI) as an index of overweight and obesity, blood pressure measurement and a random blood sugar measurement. An Electrocardiogram was done for all before a clinical evaluation done as per a pre-set proforma. Females outnumbered males, 54%. One third subjects were more than 60 years of age. Three quarters of the subjects seen were overweight or obese. High blood pressure detected by history or diagnosed first time was documented in 25% and un controlled BP despite being on drugs was common and seen in half of them ( BP> 140/90 mms Hg despite checking several times by a calibrated instrument. Diabetes was seen in only 2 % of the attendees of the camp.

Gauri Kaul Foundation on Friday 2nd July 2021 organised a specialised medical camp for patients with heart diseases, diabetes, hypertension and other comorbidities at Leper Colony Bahrar Srinagar. Around 100 patients were treated while maintaining the strict level of Covid-19 protocol. Most of them were more than 60 years old. Besides complete physical examination and comprehensive history taking, patients were tested for spot NTproBNP, CK-MB, D-Dimer, Myoglobin, troponin I, BMI, blood sugar, ECG and blood pressure. Blood samples for other ailments were also taken. The free starter kits (medicines) for one month were distributed among all the patients which included medicines for hypertension, diabetes, nutrient supplements.

Under our flagship Gauri Old Age Mission, Gauri Kaul Foundation conducted a free medical camp of the elderly population Friday, July 9, 2021 at Trikolbal , Pattan. 110 patients were screened for geriatric and heart related problems.
Next camp by Gauri Old age Mission (GOAM) under the leadership of Prof U Kaul, went with a team to Ring Zabal Budgam for a one-day Healthy Heart Camp for senior citizen on Friday 16th July 2021. We evaluate 90 persons who had registered to see us. Some of the striking findings were absence of obesity and a low body weight. Blood pressure (B P), blood sugar estimation and an electrocardiogram were recorded in all. We did electrocardiograms (ECG’s) for all the participants. In general, they were normal but 4 persons had classical ECGs of previous heart attacks and had no clue of this although all had classical symptoms of shortness of breath. We made them aware of this fact and prescribed appropriate medicines with supply for 30 days and counseled them to see us at Gauri Heart Centre, Srinagar for further evaluation as per our GOAM protocol. This would be free of cost.
Gauri Kaul Foundation held a specialized medical camp for elderly patients with heart diseases and other comorbidities at Hassanpora,Bijbehara district Anantnag on Friday 30 Jul, 2021 Though the organizers had registered 135 patients for the camp, more than 300 patients turned up to the camp. Even young patients with minor pain and small issues were seen making long queues. ECG, lipid profiles, random blood sugar, LFT, KFT, and Thyroid tests were conducted during the camp
A team of Gauri Kaul foundation went for a medical camp to the Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (IMHANS) in Srinagar to evaluate and talk to substance users voluntarily coming for de-addiction process.
